Fraudsters continue to develop and employ sophisticated cyber-scams, such as text messages and emails containing malicious links, to attempt gaining access to your devices and personal accounts.
Protect yourself by following these tips:
Be skeptical unexpected or urgent messages - Scammers often pressure you to act quickly and will impersonate well-known companies or notify you of an "unpaid" bill or balance. Do your research and scan information carefully.
Do not click suspicious links or download unknown attachments - If something feels "off", trust your instincts and delete the message or email.
Use strong, unique passwords for every individual account and enable multi-factor authentication whenever possible.
Keep your devices and software updated to the latest versions
Enable Mobile Debit Card Alerts - CB&T utilizes both "Fraud Alerts" and "Mobile Debit Card Alerts". All CB&T debit card holders receive automatic "Fraud Alerts" when a transaction is attempted that is outside of their normal activity. "Mobile Debit Card Alerts" occur after every debit card transaction. Enroll in Mobile Debit Card Alerts at Quickly Detect and Help Stop Fraudulent Use of Your Debit Card. You can trust alerts originating from the following numbers:
- Fraud Alerts - 86975
- Mobile Debit Card Alerts - 72586
